I say, Bethlehemufo is not a guitar player, he's a guitar thinker. An evident advantage of thinking with sounds rather than words being: it's universal. Writing about music, on the other hand, is not; why believe in the middleman? He may offer some technical insights, but he will hardly come close to conveying whatever is transmitted through music... he might as well just be saying: "Gee, that's some sad song innit?". More often than not, the critic will just abuse the opportunity and show off, riffing on his own precepts and metaphors and playing the pedantic "spot the influence" game. I know I have. So you'll excuse me if for once I just keep quiet, and describe this album by stealing the epigraph to one of Poe's tales: "His heart is a suspended lute; touch it and the strings resound".
